Elementary Arrival/Dismissal

 

Thomas Jefferson K-5 Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
 

Arrival: 8:30AM – 8:45AM

  • Crossing guards are present at 8:15AM. Students may cross at that time and wait on the patio. Please note that supervision of students begins at 8:30AM. 
  • Students being dropped off by car are to utilize the “kiss-and go” on the school-side of Goffle Hill Road starting at 8:30AM. If you arrive prior to 8:30AM, please wait in line on Goffle Hill before our neighbor’s driveway. This allows for clear access to campus for preschool parents and buses.
  • Please wait in line for Dr. Droske to open the door for your child(ren). Staff will supervise the students as they use the crosswalk and stairs to travel to the main entrance.
  • The students will be let in the building at 8:30AM and lined up by grade. The students will be sent to their classrooms at 8:40AM. After 8:45 AM, students must report to the main office for a late pass.

Dismissal: 3:00PM (Kindergarten dismissal is at 2:50PM)

  • Staff will escort students across Goffle Hill Road (near the corner of Sunrise Drive) using the crosswalk. Parents are to wait for their children to cross the street. Children are instructed to return to the school if their ride is not present. Please do not pick up another person’s child. Contact the main office if you are going to be late.
  • Students attending after school help are dismissed at 3:25.

REMINDER from the Hawthorne Police Department
There are no left turns from Goffle Hill Road onto Sunrise Drive and from Sunrise Drive onto Goffle Hill Road during the hours of 8:15AM to 8:50AM and from 2:25PM to 3:15PM. In addition, it is illegal to make a U-turn or three-point turn on Goffle Hill Road or Sunrise Drive. Also, the yellow curb lines on Sunrise Drive west of Goffle Hill Road are NOT a drop-off or pick- up zone. Finally, please note that there is no visitor parking during the morning drop off or at dismissal time. All parents must park their cars off campus. All violations will be strictly enforced.
